Pretty New Hairstyling Ideas for Girls

Taylor Momsen's medium layered hairstyle in May 2008 (first above). It's a straight style similar to Jessica Simpson's from a few years ago (see below), but is a little simpler. It has less volume, too. (Jess may have used hair extensions; Taylor's haircut style looks more natural.) Its layers also look less chunky and dramatic; they are finely razor-cut. It's a good, easy, everyday teen cut for high school. Taylor's big curly hairstyle (second above) looked really cute for going out in January 2008.

Melanie Chisolm (Mel C.) with a long bob hairstyle (May '08). Mel has very straight and very full bangs down to her eyelashes. The singer's chocolate brown hair looks really healthy. She's now 34, but this is definitely a youthful style that teens as well as women in their 20s and 30s can enjoy. Super low-maintenance! When you have so much straight hair in these kinds of bobs, you can get a really nice sheen, especially with the perfect shampoo. Very easy to style every day and kind of cute.

A short bob with a full fringe just like Melanie's would look like Ginnifer Goodwin's hairstyle in 2004. It's a razor-finished cut with fine subtle layers (outside and inside).

Mel's bob is one of the first long celebrity bobs we've seen in 2008; most of the bobbed ladies today are wearing short bobs, including Mel's singing partner from the Spice Girls, Posh Spice.

2007... 2008

Adrianne Palicki (25) got a simple bob makeover this year. The young actress went from thick and curly to sleek and straight. She cut off a few inches to follow the current hairstyling trend. Adrianne also left the blonde behind and returned to her roots: a pretty brunette color all over.

March 2008... June 2008

Tyra Banks (34) changes her hair color more than most female celebrities. She's been a blonde, brunette, and redhead and various combinations in between the primary haircolors. In the spring she was a brunette with beautifully highlighted hair; her latest summer look is completely blonde. It's hard to be sure from the lighting in the picture, but it looks as if she may just have picked the right shade of blonde for black women.

Miley Cyrus (15) has also had a dramatic haircolor makeover. She says she prefers to be brunette and she had very dark brown hair in the winter, but in the summer she was transformed into a redhead.

New Celebrity Hair Trend in 2008

Can you spot a new celebrity hair trend in 2008 after looking at the new pictures above? It looks as if layered hairstyles are in fashion, doesn't it?

Supermodel Cindy Crawford, actress Eva Mendes, singer Katharine MacPhee, and the lovely Morgan Fairchild all have long layered hairstyles now.

These are recent photos of all these famous women in New York on the same day (May 7, 2008). The hair fashion in other cities across America (and in other countries) could be different, but long layered hair always looks good. It's a classic modern look.

There are different kinds of fresh layered haircuts. Cindy has razored layers that look soft. Whereas Eva has more choppy layers in the more popular modern style. And it seems Katharine's layers are razored in some places and more choppy in others.
