Golden Globes Hairstyle Predictions

It may be in the dead of winter, but the Golden Globes awards ceremony always brings out the best in celebrity hairstyles. Last year, actresses Hale Berry and Emma Stone wowed attendees and viewers with their knock-out hair fashions, but who will take the cake this year?

Even as industry insiders are making their picks for who will take home the actual awards for the movies they have created, others are more concerned with the fashion scene that takes place each year on the red carpet. Based on current hairstyle fashion trends and which movies are poised to do well at the awards show, there are some predictions for which hairstyles will be the best of the Golden Globes.

Many Hollywood experts are expecting big things from Clint Eastwood's latest film, J. Edgar. Two mavens of style, Judi Dench and Naomi Watts are part of the cast and are sure to make a striking appearance on the red carpet. Judi Dench is relatively easy to predict as the elder stateswoman of acting has used a short pixie cut for several years now. With the pixie style becoming more and more popular over the past year, her look is very unlikely to change for the Golden Globes.

On the other hand, Naomi Watts is somewhat of an enigma when it comes to her hairstyle. Last year, Watts sported a stylish blond updo, but her look this year will more likely be long and wavy with a side sweep. She has used the style in the past, so it would not be a far stretch to think that she will bring it back with the side swept long waves being a current hot style.

David Cronenberg is not well known as an award winner, but some film buffs are predicting that his A Dangerous Mind may change this reputation. Featuring Keira Knightley in a supporting role, the actress may pick up her first major award with this film. For most of the year in 2011, Knightley wore her hair in a short bob that came to her chin and was a perfect accent to her wonderfully shaped jawline.

For this special chance at a first ever Golden Globe, expect the British actress to go for a big look to please fans and help solidify her media image should she take the stage to accept the award. For last year's ceremony, the actress chose a stylish formal updo with a bun in the back. Fashion insiders believe that Knightley will take it one step further this year and attempt a wild look that is outside of her public image, much as with her role in the film.

The awards season always generates a great deal of sure winners and upsets, but none are more shocking than what happens on the red carpet. Many actresses who have had incredible past histories of glamorous attire and hair have been known to fall flat once in a while. At the same time, some dark horse fashionistas use the popular event to showcase bold and daring new looks that could be the template for the following year.
