Kate has a lovely layered hairstyle which is different in a few clear ways. Her hair is closer than usual to her face on both sides, and lower at the fringe. The effect is to 'box in' her face.

The cut is also unique in the way the layers start so high (parallel to the bottom of her nose), and are distinctly blunt, and, therefore, prominent. You can't miss them.
