Phone Survey Shows Which Women Had The Hottest Haircuts in America

"Who has the hottest hair in Hollywood?" asked Short Hair magazine (Fall 1998). "The scoop on style comes from Sally Beauty Supply with the official results of the Fourth Annual Sally Beauty Supply Best Tressed Celebrity Survey.

"Star hair headliners this year are: Julia Roberts and her auburn mane, and Jennifer Aniston with her post-shag, straight locks. This all according to the Best Tressed Celebrity Survey, conducted earlier this year by Yankelovich Partners and sponsored by Sally Beauty Supply.

"We believe celebrities have a strong influence on the way women choose to wear their hair," says Michael Renzulli, president and chief executive officer of Sally Beauty Company. Cindy Crawford (27) with big sexy formal hair design. The supermodel pictured at the height of her modeling career on the cover of Sophisticate's Hairstyle Guide (August 1993) has a glamorous hairstyle that is parted on the side with a huge sweeping wave that almost kisses her cheekbone. She also has some well-blended blonde haircolor that matches her skin tone. It's a hot blowout hairstyle that moves the hair away from the side of the face to create more volume.

Josie Bissett's very short formal hairstyle in the inset pic is looking pretty sharp, too. It is very short on the sides but very full at the fringe.

Cameron Diaz (26) with an easy short hairstyle. The 90s celebrity hairstyles magazine featured ideas and instructions on how to get the hottest looks, including sexy bobs and the 35 best superstar short cuts. Brand new bi-level crops were shown.

There were celebrity hair makeovers and photos of the star winners (15 top styles). The women who wore them included: Josie Bissett; Melissa Joan Hart; Neve Campbell; and Courtney Thorne-Smith.

Back then the next big hairstyling trends for girls were: the tapered crop; the triangle cut; the quiff lift; and the baby bob hairstyle (a la Linda Evangelista). You could try one of these to be "supermodel-chic!"

This fall issue also had a color picture of Charlize Theron with a very short haircut (almost her shortest ever). SH called it "one of the shortest, hottest looks in town. Itty-bitty razored layered, pointy fringe, and a sizzling champagne blonde combine for a look that's pure pizazz!" Was this fall's "sexiest new hairdo" it advertised on the front cover?

Linda Evangelista (30) in a well-defined bob hairstyle with precise layers that plays up a beautiful, strong jawline. A dark brunette jaw-length style with a partly broken fringe. Cool look for the girl who likes geometric hairstyles or sharp angles. It's flirty but in a subtle way that suits the 30-something woman. Hair by Garren New York at Henri Blendel. Haircolor is Ultress X63 Medium Reddish Brown.
