America Ferrera in Half-Up Half-Down Hairdo with Royal Blue Gown

Occasionally stars wear gowns that make them look fat, but this one doesn't do anything of the kind. It's a beautiful cut, just right at the waist, and then falls straight down from the Ugly Betty star's hips to the red carpet.

But it's not just the dress that is slimming. The 23-year-old Latina beauty has recently lost 20 lbs.

"I'm a size 10 or 12," she said.

It's interesting how some actresses wear their best dresses to award shows that give them a statue.

America Ferrera picked up an Emmy the night she wore this stunning ruched evening dress that was worthy of honor at the top of the Best Dressed List.

Officially she won "Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series."

America's hair didn't disappoint, either. Her sideparted half-up formal hairstyle looks cute and romantic with a strapless gown.

Her dress would make a lovely prom dress and her hairdo a sweet prom hairstyle, too.

But some girls may prefer a different belt or sash. The one we see in the picture above looks a bit vintage style while the dress looks modern; competes with the gown style and color; and is unnecessarily large.
