Lindsay Lohan's life may appear to be spiraling out of control at times, but her highlighted hair was firmly under control in a special tight bun for a summer event in '06.

This evening chignon hairstyle is a great example of why long hair with highlights makes good buns.

A tight chignon on a brunette with no blonde or red streaks often looks dull, old-fashioned, and completely not stylish.

But as soon as you add the strips of color, you create a fascinating style with lots of jazzy definition.

You can look better in a bun with highlighting, in fact, than with your highlighted hair down, because it adds so much movement and dimension. And all that extra sophistication translates into very attractive elegance.
